Acupuncture

Acupuncture works by stimulating the bodies own healing response mechanism using needles. It has been practiced over thousands of years in the Far East. The principle of it is that our health is dependent on our bodies motivating energy (Qi) moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels (meridians) beneath the skin. Illness is caused by disharmony and imbalances in the way this energy flows through these channels. These imbalances can be caused by several factors such as emotion, stress, anger fear or grief, poor nutrition, infections or trauma. With the insertion of fine sterile needles into predetermined acupuncture points just beneath the surface of the skin the energy can be moved or re-distributed to restore the body's natural balance and resolve illness.

Research published in March 2005 by carrying out brain scans on patients receiving acupuncture shows that Acupuncture works. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recognises that Acupuncture is an effective form of treatment. GP's are also increasingly recognising the validity of acupuncture treatment as one of the most valuable complimentary therapies.

Tui Na (Chinese Massage)

Tui Na is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy and hands on body treatment that also uses acupressure. It is often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, Chinese herbalism, tai chi and qigong. Chinese Massage can be beneficial for absolutely anyone. It can simply be a relaxing treat, something a little more invigorating, or can promote recovery of muscular and joint injuries as well as other disorders.

Tui Na is widely used to treat many conditions ranging from muscle injury or spinal problems to internal disease such as insomnia, headache, vertigo and symptoms of stroke.

Ayurvedic Foot Massage

This highly relaxing therapy improves blood circulation, helps in preventing (or treating) varicose veins, reduces swelling and soreness in the lower leg region, treats sleep disorders and stress. It uses special Ayurvedic oils and is not only revitalising for tired feet and legs, but as the feet contain key energy and nerve points relating to the whole body, also harmonises and relaxes the entire body.

EMDR ( (Eye Movement, Desensitization & Reprocessing)

EMDR is a fantastic tool for resolving traumas. In one or two sessions it usually achieves what traditional psychotherapy often fail to achieve in months or years: that is the complete resolution of an issue. By administering eye movements while the client is focusing on a traumatic experience, that experience, and all the other experiences, beliefs and emotions associated with it, can be resolved.
